Hernando Cortez conquered the Aztec Indians therefore taking their land. Cortez tore down most of the stone pyramids. Over all the work of the Aztec Indians they built Mexico City. It is now called the Aztec Ruins. Cortez then put churches in place of the pyramids. Only one of the pyramids were left…. the Sun God pyramid. It still exists in Mexico today.

Here is the sad story about the Aztecs. A long time ago in what used to be the Aztecs land the Aztecs were very peaceful performing sacrifices for their gods and doing their daily things. Until ships came and out came the Spaniards. Hernando amazed the Aztec leader with his white skin and beard; this made the Aztecs give up all their gold. Then the Aztecs had to perform a sacrifice on a human. The Spaniards were disgusted. Soon they came to think that they were barbarians.

So they declared an attack on the Aztecs. The fight was endless but in the end the Aztecs were victorious. The Spaniards were forced to retreat. This was not the end of the Spaniards. Soon the Spaniards came back armed with cannons. After they broke in they killed Mocteczuma their leader. They killed every single one of the Aztecs. After the battle they tore down the temples and in time they made churches. They then started making Mexico City. This was the sad story about the Aztecs. Today you can visit Mexico and see the most famous temple of the Sun God.
