These Native Americans were very fond of jewelry, especially necklaces. These different kinds of jewelry were worn by both men and women. Usually the necklaces had beaver teeth, dentalium shells, and bear claws as the decoration. Many different tribes had various kinds of decorations for all the different kinds of necklaces. They also had ornaments that would hang from holes in the nose and ear.

Lebrets

A lebret is a decoration that is hung from a slit in the lower lip. Usually they were made of wood or bone. The slit would enlarge and women could wear three inch lebrets.

 Tattoos

In the Pacific Northwest, tattoos were commonly seen on Native Americans. Young children were decorated with crest designs.
