The Creation of the First Teddy Bear

Morris Michtom, a man who owned a toy store in New York City, saw the cartoon by Clifford Berryman about the bear hunt Theodore Roosevelt went on. Morris Michtom decided to make a stuffed bear. It was stuffed with fine shavings of wood. It was covered with angora goats' hair called "mohair" and it's eyes were made out of black boot buttons. When Morris Michtom was done he wrote a letter to Theodore Roosevelt asking if he could name it the "Teddy Bear" after him. Theodore agreed. Now the Teddy Bear is still famous from 100 years ago! It is actually what children's delight is now!
