Changes

There have been many changes in our world since 1902, the year of the bear hunt that led to the birth of the teddy bear!  What was the world like in 1902?  Our country was made up of mostly small towns then, with sixty percent of the population living in towns of less than 2,500 people!  Today there are many more people living in large towns and huge cities.  With all of these changes have come other changes such as how we get around, like our automobiles.

Women's rights have come a long way in one hundred years, too.  In 1902, married women in most states could not own property in their own names.  They had to have it in their husband's name!  And women were only allowed to vote in four states!  Women's clothes were very modest in 1902, also, with a short skirt being one that showed shoes!  Today a short skirt is, well, short.  Read on to learn more about how fashions have changed.

We have gone from no televisions at all to an average of several per household.  And from a world where there was no Hollywood to one where Hollywood rules our leisure time.

In this section, we talk about many things that most people may never thing about, but that are in our lives every day.  We researched outward changes such as clothes and shoes.  Then we learned about changes in transportation, such as cars and, though fewer people use them, submarines.  And quite interestingly, we also report on changes in entertainment, such as radios, televisions, and animation.

So read on to learn about the many ways our world has changed since the Great Bear Hunt of 1902!
