Text Box: Animation

Animation has been a part of cinema history from the time motion pictures were created in the late 1800's. In the year 1902, animation was hand drawn by man. In 1914, the cel animation process was created.  This process included drawing your character's actions on clear sheets of paper, then putting them in order, and finally filming them.
In the 1930's, Walt Disney became famous for his ''Silly Symphony'' cartoon series, a great example of cel animation. These cartoons became SO popular, Walt Disney decided to make Fantasia a full length film. The Walt Disney Company decided to make more animated family movies.  They included the first full-length animated musical feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, as well as other classics like Bambi and Dumbo.
Animated movies are still popular today.  Some of the most popular ones include: "The Little Mermaid" (1989),"Beauty & the Beast" (1991),"Aladdin" (1992), and "The Lion King" (1994). One animation company called "Pixar" hired John Lasseter in 1986. He created "Toy Story"(1995). Out of all the kinds of animation, hand drawn is the best! Some people still use it!
