This is our first year to compete in the ThinkQuest competition. At the beginning of our school year, we discussed topics which we would like to design a website for. After brainstorming lots of ideas, we decided to make our website about bears and commemorate the teddy bear's 100th birthday! We decided this because the bear hunt that started it all happened in our home state of Mississippi!
First, we categorized our ideas and researched each topic. Then we began learning how to put our information onto webpages. After months of challenging work, we completed the website. It was lots of fun!!! Even though at times it was frustrating , we are very proud of ourselves for finishing.

Back row left to right: Katelyn, Brooke, Dee
Front row left to right: Brittany, Lee - alternate, Amanda
| Katelyn's
hobby is playing softball, which she has been doing for six years.
She is very fast and she likes sports. Katelyn's favorite subject is
creative writing, and her favorite book is Ramona the Pest.
She really likes the show "Hey, Arnold." Katelyn wants to be a
lawyer when she grows up, and then hopes to be appointed judge.
Katelyn was a hard worker and did every part of ThinkQuest well, though
she liked to type and create the pages best.
|
| Brooke likes to
write children's books and she likes to read. Nancy Drew books are
her favorite. She likes to play with her uncle's new chocolate lab
puppy. She plays basketball on the only undefeated team in her
league. Her favorite subject is math and her favorite color is a mix
of blue, purple and hot pink. She liked creating web pages
best when doing ThinkQuest. "Even though there was a lot of chaos
going on sometimes," she says she would do ThinkQuest again!
Probably because she liked Mrs. Crunk's Girl Scout cookies.
|
| Dee likes to read
Left Behind books in his free time. He also likes to play
basketball and draw, particularly imaginary creatures like "Smiggymoo," an
imaginary flying cow. He is starting to play baseball, and won
second place in the district-wide chess tournament. He's a
celebrity! He has two dogs, Rebel and Dixie. Dee is hosting
the party when we actually complete ThinkQuest, he is so excited to have
survived the experience. Dee's favorite part of ThinkQuest was
researching, and he did a great job with that!
|
| Brittany is a
swimmer. She loves to swim and to ride her bike. She is new to
Madison Avenue Upper Elementary this year, having moved from Ocean Springs
earlier this year. Brittany's favorite part of ThinkQuest was
keeping everyone else on track and making sure they did what they were
supposed to do. She also liked drawing her own clip art and scanning
in onto the page. Brittany's favorite subject is math and her
favorite color is blue!
|
| Lee's favorite
subject is reading, and his favorite color is green. Lee wants to be
a vet when he grows up. Lee is the fastest web page creator there
ever was! During our state competition, he learned to make a web
page in fifteen minutes, and he really helped by showing the ThinkQuest
USA team how to do some great things. He was a great supporter and
had the best attitude anyone could hope for. Then entire team thanks
Lee for his great attitude. You were a wonderful alternate!
|
| Amanda has a dog named Buster. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Her favorite show is "The Book of Virtues." Amanda's favorite subject is reading, and she reads even more for fun. She plays softball and when she grows up she wants to be a marine biologist Amanda was a great fact finder and is an excellent writer for ThinkQuest. |
