After Roald Dahl married Patricia Neal, they had five children.  Their names were Olivia, Tessa, Theo, Ophelia, and Lucy.  But their life was sad.

Roald Dahl with his son, Theo and some other little friends.

One day, Theo in his baby carriage, was hit by a taxi.  His brain was damaged badly.  Ophelia died at age seven from measles.  While Patricia was pregnant, she suffered three stokes in one day.  She was under the care of doctors for years. But Dahl continued to write.

In 1961,  his first children's novel, James and the Giant Peach, appeared.  After the book was published, He became a famous author.  Twenty-five of his books got published within the next thirty years.

Although most kids loved his books, lots of grown ups didn't.  They thought he was too rude and the books wouldn't make the kids better people.  But Dahl wrote to please the children, not the adults.

In 1983, Dahl divorced Patricia Neal, and married Felicity Crosland.  In 1988, his last book, Matilda, was published.  He died in 1990 at the age of seventy-four.  But his books are still around today.
