The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a city wide event. When you come to the festival you can be sure to find great food and music. The festival is an eleven day cultural feast that celebrates Louisiana's variety of music especially jazz. This festival usually hosts around 500,000 visitors along with thousands of musicians, cooks, and craft people. The musicians, cooks, and crafts people come to the Fair Grounds to share their good music, foods, and crafts with the tourists.

So many tourists come to this festival it has become New Orlean's second largest festival. The largest festival is Mardi Gras. The city has set aside the first Thursday of the festival as the "locals day." The hosts of the festivals provide this day so the local people can have a fun day to themselves and not have to share the festival with the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come.

Most of the musicians and acts that come are held on stages or under huge tents. The entire festival is actually held on a horse racing track. If listening to good Louisiana music is your cup of tea, you should come to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
