The Louisiana German Oktoberfest or Germanfest is held each year in Robert's Cove. Robert's Cove was named after Benjamin Robert. Robert's Cove is a small area with a small population. The residents of Robert's Cove continue to raise rice, cattle, and soybeans. They work hard to preserve the German culture.

Oktoberfest is a festival full of rich history, tradition and culture. Every year many people join in the festival in Robert's Cove, Louisiana to celebrate the completion of harvest. In 1995, 600 volunteers organized the first Oktoberfest or Germanfest. It was a two day festival and about 15,000 tourists came. It has continued to grow each year.

The first Oktoberfest dates back to 1810. It was held in Bavaria, Germany to celebrate the marriage of King Ludwig I and Princess Therese.

This festival is unlike most in Louisiana. There are no rides or carnival. Instead you will find a lot of German music such as German folk singing and dancing. You can also enjoy good German food such as bratwurst. German handcrafts are also shared.

If you enjoy singing, dancing, and food, you will enjoy the Oktoberfest or Germanfest.
