Why are they called teddy bears?

They are called teddy bears because in the early 1900's, Theodore "Teddy" Delano Roosevelt, the president of the United States, went on a hunting trip. His "partner" tied a young black bear to a tree and left it to "Teddy" to decide. Much to his partner's dismay, Teddy did not shoot the bear. That's why stuffed bears are called teddy bears.
