Journal:

Today I started my new job as an apprentice doctor. I saw many ailments through out the day. I helped set a young boys broken arm. I even helped stitch up a man's leg after  what he said was a brutal fall from a pyramid ladder.  After I participated in these medical procedures I i gained valuable experience that will be able to use in the future when I am promoted to doctor.

During the Egyptian dynasty many contributions were made to other civilizations. One such contribution was papyrus. A paper material made from a plant. After Egyptians made this paper material they needed something to write with so they invented ink.

Papyrus

Papyrus was used for other things such as being tied in bundles to form columns for houses. It was made in to baskets to carry things and was also formed into shapes of rafts and riverboats.

 Mathematics

Egyptians also contributed in the field of mathematics.  They invented a number system based on ten, which is still used today. Geometry was useful to the Egyptians when they surveyed land.  They also used fractions and whole numbers to count. The Egyptians also invented the calendar you use today.

 Medicine

Egyptians were the first to specialize in medicine. They had different doctors that specialized in animals, eyes and surgery. They were also the first to use compresses, splints, and bandages. Many Egyptian doctors were experts when it came to sewing up cuts and setting broken bones. Other ailments that the Egyptians treated were indigestion and hair loss.  If another Egyptian citizen had a case of hair loss they would treat them with a mixture of dog toes, dates, and donkey hooves. For indigestion the Egyptians used castor oil.
