| Minoans came about in 2800 BC, on an Island on the Mediterranean Sea, Crete (Kŕēŧ) Island. Minoans were also called Cretan ( Kŕēŧüņ) People because their civilization rose on Crete Island. They were also known for trading goods for crops that they were not able to grow, because the soil on their homelands was not as rich and they could grow limited crops, such as, wheat, barley, grapes, and olives. | Minoan People were known for their great craftsmanship as carpenters. They built very well. They built ships that were fast but then changed the shape to make the ship move more swiftly against the current. Their ships were long, slim, and had two to three masts which made the boat move quicker. On their newly built ships they had a deck over the heads of the rowers to protect them so that they would keep rowing. On the front of the ship they had a long wooden "Prow", which the Minoans used to sink the ships of their enemies such as "Pirates" when the Minoans smashed into them when in a battle or otherwise. | |
| By 2000 BC the Crete was the worlds first Seafaring civilizations. Minoans had traveled far from home with goods to trade such as, pottery, leather, bronze armor, and metal jewelry. | |

| Minoans on Crete Island were small people. They had bronze skin, dark hair and most of their native people had brown or caramel colored eyes. Men were to wear loincloths with long robe with embroidered flowers and the same as well with their pants (trousers). The women wore skirts from waist to their ankles, short sleeved jackets that tied in the front. Not only small the Minoans had small waists. They wore tightened belts to show off their waists. | |
| Minoans were not only ship builders but architects as well. They built many cities and homes in their civilizations which were exceedingly different from other ancient civilizations. Unlike other civilizations, the Minoans had a Royal Palace at the center of their city instead of a Temple. The palace formed a Labyrinth or many pathways, which made it difficult for someone to find their way. | |
