Pinocchio:

Geppetto is a lonely wood carver who lives with his cat named Figaro, and his fish named Cleo. One very special night after dancing with his puppet he named Pinocchio, Geppetto wishes upon a star that his little puppet would become a boy. Luckily for him, the Blue Fairy hears his wish and grants him. She makes a little cricket named Jiminy Pinocchio’s conscience. The Blue Fairy also tells Pinocchio that for him to become a real boy, he has to listen to his conscience and be “true.” Pinocchio and Jiminy have many experiences in which Pinocchio doesn’t listen to his conscience. When he gets himself caught by the theater owner, Stromboli, the Blue Fairy comes to visit Pinocchio and sees him in a cage. She asks him some questions and his nose starts growing. The Blue Fairy says, “A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as clear as the nose on your face.” He gets into trouble many times and escapes them all. One time after they escape, they go straight home, only to find that Geppetto, Figaro, and Cleo are gone. They are sent a note that they have all been swallowed by a big whale named Monstro. Jiminy and Pinocchio decide to follow them into the whale and when they come out, they are chased by Monstro. When they finally surface, they all think that Pinocchio is dead. But he’s alive, and is now a real boy.
Pinocchio was Walt Disney’s second masterpiece. In 1941, it won an Oscar for the Best Music, Original Score for the song “Wish Upon a Star.” In 1989, it won an ASCAP award for Most Performed Feature Film Standards for “Wish Upon a Star” again.
