A team wins the World Series by making it all the way through the playoffs.  There are fours teams that get into the playoffs from each league.  The team that has finished first in each division, and the second place team in each division with the best record from each league all make it to the playoffs.  The second place team with the best record is called the "wild card" team.  The eight teams going into the playoffs are determined at the end of the season.  The first round of the playoffs is called the Divisional Championship Series.  This is when the team with the best record from each league plays the "wild card" team, and the second and third teams with the best record play each other.  In this round the team who wins 3 out of 5 games advances to the next round.  The next round is called the League Championship Series.  The two teams that won the divisional championship series in each league play each other.  In this round the team who wins 4 out of 7 games advances to the next round, which is called the World Series.  Both winners from each  League Championship Series play in the World Series.

Winning the World Series is every teams goal and dream.  To win the World Series you must win 4 out of 7 games against the team you are playing from the opposing league.  When a team wins, they celebrate in their clubhouse by spraying champagne all over their teammates.  They usually also go to Disney World and have a parade thrown for them in their hometown.  They also get championship rings.  The New York Yankees have the most World Series Championships wins with 26.  Winning the World Series is every baseball players dream and goal.  It is an amazing experience to win it all!!!
