The Titanic hit an iceberg shortly before midnight on April 14th, 1912. The Titanic received many iceberg warnings from other ships. The sea was flat and the air was cold with no wind at all. At 11:40 pm on April 14th there were three pulls on the crow's nest bell. The lookout, Frederick Fleet's exact words were, "Iceberg, Right ahead!" First Officer William McMaster Murdoch was driving the ship when it collided with the iceberg. The Titanic actually sank at 2:00 am on April 15th, 1912. After it hit the iceberg it was only 2 hours before it sank. The sunken Titanic is located at in the Atlantic Ocean, at 41 degrees 46' North 50 degrees, 14' West. The final resting place was 12,500 feet down inthe Atlantic Ocean.

The Titanic sank because the iceberg made a crack in the hull of the ship. The iceberg had caused a two hundred foot rupture along the great ship's side. Five of the water compartments were open and filled with water. This caused the ship to sink front first. The reason the Titanic broke in half was because the front half of the ship was flooded with water and it weighed more than the back.
