What Did the Captain Do to Save the Passengers?
As soon as Captain Smith heard that the Titanic had hit an iceberg, he went to the lower deck and surveyed the damage. He saw that 5 compartments were damaged and were filling with water. He realized that the ship was going to sink and he had two hours to get the passengers off the ship. He ordered his crew to follow the laws of the sea and to load all women and children on the lifeboats first. There is no record of what Captain Smith did next but we do know he went down with the Titanic
