Clothing

Native American women used interesting items in making their clothing. Dresses were made out of deerskin and other fur. The dresses were decorated with porcupine quills, glass beads, seeds, and other items. Girl's clothing was different from women's. Women wore leather skirts and moccasins while children wore little or nothing. In winter, men and women wore robes of bear fur.

As the Native Americans became more organized they had more time for artistic expression. One artistic thing they did was decorating their clothing. They used designs such as nature and things from their minds. Some of the items they used to decorate their clothes were porcupine quills, moose hair, nature paint, shells and bones. One of the ways they to get shells and bones onto the clothing is to make a hole through the object, then sew it on the clothing with sinew which is a muscle from a leg of a animal.
