Arrow Over the Door

Scene from the book

At the doorway was the tallest man Samuel had ever seen. Samuel could see that the man was a lot taller than his own father. The man held a nice bow with carvings in it. Someone moved behind the tall man. It was an Indian boy named Stands Straight. The tall man lifted up a stone in his right hand.  He surveyed the room and then looked right at Samuel. This describes what it was like when members of the Abenaki tribe entered the Quaker Meetinghouse while out scouting for the British.

While reading this book I learned a lot of new information about Native American life.  I really enjoyed the stories they told and learning about hunting.  I strongly suggest that you read Arrow Over the Door by Joseph Bruchac if you enjoy learning about Native Americans.
