Lydia's Bridge
Although Lydia died in 1923 many people
have reported seeing her, hitchhiking in
Jamestown, North Carolina!
When a driver is driving around 70 east of
Jamestown and near High Point chances are
they will see a beautiful, lost young woman
in white. When the driver, usually a man, or
someone all alone, pulls up to ask if she
would like a ride, she simply asks to be taken
to High Point her home. Some say she begins
telling a story of the dance she just came
from, and how there was an argument of her
beauty. She also tells him the directions of
how to get to her home. The driver, being a
gentleman, gets out of the car to open the door
for the woman. When he opens to door, to his
surprise, she is no longer there!
In some stories it tells of how she had a scarf
around her neck. She went into the house,
and when the man got back in the car he
found the scarf laying in the seat where the
girl had once been. He decided to take the
scarf to the young girl. He knocked on the
door and it was opened by a man and his
wife. He handed them the scarf explaning
that there daughter had left it in the car. The
mother screamed with fright and nearly
fainted. Confused the man asked the
womans husband what was wrong. What he
heard was shocking! The father explained that
his daughter had been dead for some time
and that she always wore that scarf so when
she died she was buried with it!
