Harry Potter and

the Sorcerer's Stone

Based on the book by J.K. Rowling, this movie has been loved by children everywhere.  Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is a wizard, though he doesn't know it, and an orphan, his parents were killed by a powerful wizard, Voldemort.  Harry survived, the only person to ever do so, and somehow Volemort died, leaving Harry with only a scar.  On hiss 11th birthday, Harry is introduced to the magical world and enrolls into a wizard school, Hogwarts.  Here Harry meets many new friends and learns about magic.  The one problem is that someone is at Hogwarts who shouldn't be there, and that person wants to kill Harry and live forever.

Recommendations

I have read all the Harry Potter books, more than once, and found them very good, but the movie wasn't able to capture that goodness.  The movie left out a lot of important scenes, that might have benefited it, and I thought the acting job was very poor on the children's part.  If you have not read the books, you would probably have found the movie to be great, but if you have read the books, you wouldn't like it as much.
