Tom Clancy

Born In: Baltimore, Maryland 

Tom Clancy was educated at Baltimore's Loyola College, lead successful career in insurance.  In result of this he was allowed to pursue his passions of writing.  The news story about a mutiny aboard a frigate from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or the USSR, influenced Clancy into reworking the events in his first novel The Hunt for Red October (1984).  Clancy's first novel became an instant bestseller, winning the admiration of U.S. government officials and cooperation from the Pentagon with research on further books.  After his first novel Clancy then came out with his second novel Red Storm Rising (1986), and soon after it he came out with his third novel Patriot Games (1987).  Then, in 1991, Clancy came out with The Sum of All Fears, which like Patriot Games revolved around a terrorist attack.  Soon to follow was Clancy's novel Without Remorse (1993).  Some of Clancy's other novels include Cardinal of Kremlin (1988), Clear Present Danger (1989), Debt of Honor (1994), Tom Clancy's Op-Center (1995), Executive Orders (1996), and Rainbow Six (1998).  In the 1990s Clancy began a non-fiction series examining various areas of the United States Armed Forces.  These books include Marine: A Guided Tour of a Marine Expeditionary Unit (1996), and Airborne: A Guided Tour of an Airborne Task Force (1997).
