Don’t think you’re very good? Nonsense! All you have to do is improve your skills. Sign up with acting classes or take a look at this page!!!!!!!
1. Project your voice. Tape yourself saying a line or phrase. Play it back when you’re done or show it to family members. See if you sound loud enough and speak with feeling and emotion. If you don’t sound nice and loud you need to improve. You don’t need a recorder, you can practice with your family. A recorder is a good idea so you can play back the voice again and again.
2. You may like acting but think that improvisation or comedy is better. Don’t worry, these tips apply to those too. Comedy and improvisation are a different form of acting because people have their own ways of expressing themselves.
3. Are you a little nervous? That can always be fixed. For starters write a few little phrases and perform them in front of one person. As you begin to become more confidant add more people to your audience. Who knows, you may want to become a playwright when you’re done.
4. Still nervous? Try playing games with a group of friends that will help improve your skills.
Here are some ideas:
Word Association: Say a word out loud to a group of friends. Go around the circle and ask the people playing to say the word that pops into their head. You can make teams and try and see if you end up on the same word at the end.
Example:
Jane: makeup
Tom: lipstick
Haley: colors
Jane: red
And so on.
Substitute Singer: Break up into groups of five or four. One of the groups gets in front of everyone and a person on their team starts singing a song. When they begin to run out of words, someone else has to sing a different song. If no one comes out to help the failing singers, they have to keep on singing till someone comes to help them out.
Laughing in a Circle: Everyone stands in a circle. You pick one person out of the circle that you have to make laugh. Keep on going till you make everyone laugh.
A Room Full of Jell-O: Pretend you have a special remote that has a button that makes the room full of Jell-O. Everyone has to pretend they're in a room full of Jell-O. The remote has other buttons too: stop, play, pause, rewind, and fast forward. There are other action buttons too. Make up some of your own or try these: on the moon, slippery mud (don’t actually fall), and ghost around the corner.
Little face, Big face: When the instructor says little face make your face like you just bit into a lemon. When the instructor says big face stretch every muscle in your face.
These are great party games and make your acting skills better.
Remember you should have fun acting!!!!!!!! Don’t stress yourself out about it!!!!!!!
