What is remote sensing?

Remote sensing is a type of science that gets information about something without actually being in contact with it. Using satellites and airplanes, we can gather information about the Earth. When using satellites you can get information that you wouldn’t be able to get with the human eye by itself. For example, infrared is a type of light that the vegetation emits. Scientist use infrared to see the growth or decline of vegetation in a given area of a period of time.
