                                       The Russian Flag

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world

it covers over parts of two countries and is twice the

size of the United States. from the east to the west coast

the country stretches out over 6,000 miles. To the north

of the country is the Artic Ocean. in the south it meets

China and Iran. In the west it meets the Baltic Ocean

and in the east it meets the pacific ocean.

The northern part of Russia is covered in

tundra. The soil that the tundra has is not very good.

The only plant life on the tundra is moss and shrubs.

There are only a few animals that can survive in that

environment they are : Arctic foxes, reindeer, and polar

bears. On the other side of the tundra are big forests and

other trees. Brown bears, wolves, and lynxes can live in

that kind of environment. Some fruit and wheat can

grow in the warm months.

Moscow is Russia's capitol. This is the largest and

most important city in Russia. Moscow River flows

through the city. In the middle of Kremlin is a old

fortress. It also was a church, government building,

and a palace. Around that city is a place called Red

Square. Parades are usually taken place in Red Square.

Russia has a lot of natural resources. Most of the

forests are found in Russia. Russia makes paper,

furniture, toys, and coal. It also has large supplies of oil,

and natural gases. There are also iron, gold, silver, and

 diamonds.

In Russia most people rent and live in apartments.

These apartments only have two rooms. Most of the

people share their houses with another family. Most

people use public transportation to get from place to

place. The people who don't use public transportation

 have their own car.

In Russia their rule for education is that you start

when your 7 years old and go to school for 11 years.

The children go to school 6 days a week. They start

school at 8:30 and the day ends at 1:30pm.

Russia has many famous landmarks. Here are 6

different famous landmarks. The Black Sea, Gorki Park,

Orthodox service, Kremlin, St. Basil Cathedral, and

Winter Palace in St. Petersburg.

In Russia very few people are farmers, other

people work in offices, shops, and in factories. Ten

percent of Russia is used for farming. There are many

factories  in Russia, there range of making things is

 from textiles to steel machinery.

Russia's most leading foods are potatoes. Since

food is limited in Russia, many people have to stand in

long lines while they wait for the food that they need for

them and their families. For breakfast many people

eat bread, butter, and sometimes jam. For lunch most

people eat soup with bread, and for dinner they mainly

eat fish. Adults usually drink tea and children drink milk.

When your in Russia you have to wait in many long

lines just to get one thing. That's because they have

shortages. Russia is working harder to help increase

there supplies that families need.

Just remember how lucky we are to be able to

live in the United States!
