Canada is made up of ten provinces and three
territories. Canada also is known for its lakes and inland
waters. It has the most of any other country. Its
scenery attracts millions of tourists each year.
The first people to settle in Canada were the
Native Americans .The first European settlers were the
French. Canada was ruled by France until 1763 when
the British took over. Today English, and French are the
two official languages of Canada.
The sports Canadians love is Skiing, ice
hockey, baseball, tennis, lacrosse, water skiing, and
water rafting. Most of the sports that Canadians play
are national known. Lacrosse is a national sport that
comes from Native Americans and is played all
throughout Canada. Each Winter Canadians play ice
hockey. In the Spring they play tennis, and football. In
the Summer time they play water sports, and in Fall they
are still playing football, and tennis.
Canada's Great Riches. Canada is a country with a
lot of natural resources. The resources include forests,
minerals, and farmlands. The forests are used for
lumber. Canada is the leading supplier for paper. The
farmland is used for the Canadians to eat, and the left
overs are to sell to other countries. The minerals that
Canada has have asbestos, gold, iron, lead, nickel,
potash, zinc, silver, and uranium.
The life in Canada. Canada has a population with
over 100,000 people. Montreal and Toronto each have
about two million people. TV is very popular to
Canadians, they get a lot of American shows. Many
people work in nearby cities and commute everyday to
and from their jobs. Not all people who live in rural
areas are farmers.
Canadians mostly have their own cars for
transportation. They have fine roads and highways.
Today, there is about one car for every two Canadians.
They also have a good railroad system, there is about
50,000 miles of railroad track in Canada. Since Canada
is big they have to fly from one side of the country to the
other. They also use jet planes to get form far cities from
where they are at to where they want to go.
Toronto is the largest city in Canada. There are
more than three million people who live there. The
Canadian National Tower is the worlds biggest
self-supporting statue in the world. It is 1,821 feet high.
Montreal is the second largest city in Canada. Most of
the people who live there or visit there talk French. It
also is the second largest city for the language French.
The capitol of Canada was Quebec and now is ruled by
the French. Ottawa is the national capitol now.
