| Endymion is now the largest krewe ever with 2,200 riders
in 2003. Endymion was founded in 1967 as a small neighborhood parade and
gained super krewe status in 1974.
Grand marshals, or celebrity monarchs, in this krewe have included the Beach Boys, Dolly Parton, and
Chicago. Endymion's post-parade party is known as the
"Endymion Extravaganza" and is held in the Louisiana Superdome. The parade enters the Superdome
and the floats parade through the Superdome throwing beads. This krewe now has the largest
float ever
in Carnival, the Captain Eddie S.S. Endymion that is 240 feet long!
