My name is Bobbing Billy. I am a special kind of car that can go on the
land and on the water. I am known as an Amphicar. I am an amphibious vehicle,
and I'm here to tell you about myself. Have you ever heard of an Amphicar?
It is way cool. It
is a car that can go right from the shore and drive into the water. Hanns
Tripple, from Germany, was the main inventor of this awesome vehicle.

The Amphicar was the only amphibious vehicle made in a factory just for passengers to enjoy. When new, the Amphicar sold for between $2,800 and $3,300, depending on the year. | |
| The Amphicar is unusual because its engine is located in the rear and uses a four-cylinder British-built Triumph Herald motor. It has the same amount of strength and power as 43 horses! The Amphicar was made of steel, not fiberglass like many boats are. It has a top speed of 7 miles per hour on water and 70 miles per hour on land. The doors on the Amphicar seal with two rubber strips that work like the seal on a refrigerator. |
