Pens I Solution
I solved the problem Pens I by thinking of all the possible dimensions for a fence. Then I checked them by multiplying the length by the width, and if the area equaled 36 it would work. Then I checked the price by adding up the perimeter and to make it quick I added up the length and the width and doubled, and that got me the price. Then I looked at all the possibilities and found the cheapest one and it was the 6 by 6 array. I know this is the best pen because Ive done all the possible factors of 36 and 6x6 has the least amount of fence. Because there are four sides and all of them have six meters to a side so 6x4 equals 24 meters for the perimeter, which is the lowest amount of money so that's the best pen. If you want to make it quicker you can find the square root of the area.
| Length | Width | Perimeter |
| 1 | 36 | $74 |
| 2 | 18 | $40 |
| 3 | 12 | $30 |
| 4 | 9 | $26 |
| 6 | 6 | $24 |
