It all began when strange things started to happen and people were whispering about the Potters. Soon after the strange events, an infant named Harry Potter, with a lightening bolt scar on his forehead, was dropped off at the Dursley's. Eleven years later, Harry was able to talk to a snake. Soon after that Harry begins to get multiple letters from the Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. The Dursleys go far away to a cottage to escape the mail. There they encounter a giant named Hagrid. Hagrid, explained to Harry about Hogwarts, the school for wizards and witches and how his parents died. Then Hagrid took Harry to Diagon Alley to buy his Hogwart's essentials. After that, they went to Gringots Bank for money, and Hagrid had to get a very important, secret object for Hogwarts.

Finally when Harry goes to Hogwarts on the train, he meets the Weasley's, Ron, Fred, George, and Percy and Hermione Granger. When at last they arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they were sorted into their houses. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were chosen for Gryffindor. After a few weeks at Hogwarts during a flying lesson, Professor McGonagall saw Harry flying and wanted him to play Quidditch for Gryffindor.

On Halloween, there was a splendid feast and Professor McGonagall gave Harry a Nimbus Two Thousand broom stick. During the feast, Professor Quirrel came running in gasping that there was a troll in the dungeon. When the Gryffindor house was being led back to their dormitories, Harry and Ron remembered that Hermione was in the bathroom, and she didn't know about the troll. Soon with Harry's and Ron's quick thinking, they knocked out the troll and save her.

A little while later, during Harry's first Quidditch game, his broom began thrashing wildly. Hermione thought that Professor Snape might be responsible for it since he hates Harry so much. She runs and lights Snape's robes on fire and knocks over Professor Quirrel. Harry then regains control, catches the Snitch, and wins the game.

One day when Hermione, Ron, and Harry were talking to Hagrid, he accidentally mentioned Nicholas Flamel, and since they had encountered Fluffy, the three headed dog, they knew Fluffy must be guarding something. During Christmas, Harry and Ron stayed at Hogwarts instead of going home. When Christmas morning finally arrived, Ron woke Harry and told him about the presents that were under the big tree. Harry was delighted when he received an invisibility cloak. It was signed anonymous, and there was a note that said it had belonged to Harry's father.

That week, Harry used his cloak to sneak into the library to find information on Nicholas Flamel. During his research at the library, Harry heard Filtch and Mrs. Norris, Filtch's cat, so he hid in a room where there was a gigantic mirror. When he looked in the mirror, he saw his whole family including his parents. He was so astonished that he ran to wake Ron and bring him to the mirror. When Ron looked into the mirror instead of seeing Harry's parents, he saw himself as Headboy.

When Harry went back to the mirror he was joined by Professor Dumbledore who told him the mirror showed the looker's deepest and most desperate desire. He then told Harry never to go looking for the mirror after it was removed.

Soon Hermione and the others returned and Harry, Ron, and Hermione went back to researching Flamel. One day Hermione and Harry found out that Nicholas Flamel was the creator of the Sorcerer's Stone. They finally figured out that Snape wanted the Stone badly, because it gave eternal life to the user.

In the following weeks, Harry, Hermione, and Ron visited Hagrid where they found out that Hagrid had received a baby dragon egg from a stranger. They soon knew that they had to get rid of it, so they gave it to Ron's brother Charlie's friend. But, when they were going to a tower to give the baby dragon to Charlie's friend, they were caught by Professor McGonagall and Filtch. Then Hermione and Harry and Draco and Neville who were spying on them, all received detentions. They were to go with Hagrid to the Forbidden Forest.

Hagrid said they were looking for something that might have killed unicorns. Harry and Draco found a hooded creature sucking the blood of a unicorn. Harry thought that the creature was Snape trying to get the elixir for Voldemort. He then woke Hermione and Ron and said that they needed to go to the door Fluffy guarded. Once they were inside the trap door, they were caught by the " Devil's Snare" and were being strangled until Hermione helped them to get out.

Then they had to catch a key to get through the next door. Once they did that, they went onto a life sized chess board where Ron was knocked out by a giant chess piece. Harry and Hermione went on to drink a potion to get through a wall of fire. Hermione figured the potion logic puzzle out. When Harry went through the wall of fire, he found the magical mirror Dumbledore had told him not to go looking for.

In front of the mirror stood Professor Quirrel, not Snape. During the encounter, Harry saw himself in the mirror holding the Sorcerer's Stone that was really in his pocket. When Quirrel and Voldemort, who was on the back of Quirrel's head, tried to attack and kill him, he escaped from them before being knocked unconscious. Harry woke up in the hospital wing. When Harry was able to leave the hospital wing, he went to the end of the year feast where Gryffindor won the House Cup.

Harry was reluctant to leave Hogwarts and go back to the Dursley's, but he knew that he would return next year.
