Mildred Hubble is starting her
first year at Miss Crackle's Academy for Witches. Mildred is
not doing good so far. She is always crashing on her
broomstick and getting her potions mixed up. She is one of
those people who always seems to get in trouble. She doesn't
mean to get in trouble but she seems to be in the wrong
place at the wrong time. Mildred is definitely a trouble
maker.
Everyone was really excited about the presentation of the kittens. This is when everyone gets their kittens. The girls have to teach the kittens to ride on brooms. When the presentation came, Mildred was last. She got a scraggly kitten different from everyone else's. Midred has a hard time teaching the kitten to ride the broom.
Mildred gets in trouble in potion class again. Miss Crackle doesn't know what to do with Mildred except to tell her to stop getting into trouble. The next day Miss Hardbroom tells the girls that they have been chosen to present a display for the school's Halloween celebration. They are going to perform a routine on their brooms. At practice Mildred breaks her broom and is forced to borrow her worst enemy's spare broom. Mildred goes to go get the broom. Her enemy has cast a spell on the broom so Mildred and the enchanted broom mess up the entire peresentation.
When everyone goes back to the school, they are all blaming things on Mildred. She gets really upset and runs away. When she is outside, she sees a group of witches talking. They are talking about turning everyone in Miss Crackle's school into frogs. Mildred has no idea what to do. Then she takes out her spell book and turns all of the witches into snails. She goes back to school, and Miss Crackle changes them back, making them admit defeat.
The next morning everyone knows what Mildred has done. Miss Crackle held a meeting in the great hall. She told everyone that this day would be a half holiday in honor of Mildred. At the end of the meeting everyone was thanking Mildred, even her meanest teacher was proud of her.
