Tennessee's main industries include the manufacturing of machines, chemicals, and automobiles. The crops which are important to the stat are the ones that were important in the colonists days. Those crops are cotton and tobacco.

The nickname for Tennessee is the "Volunteer State."

Tennessee became a state on June 1, 1796. It was the 16th state to enter the union.
