Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President, he was born on February 12th, 1809 near Hodgenville, Kentucky his parents were Thomas and Nancy. Abraham Lincoln did not have a real great education. But he loved to read books.  He usually helped his father clear the land for farming.  At the age of 19 Abraham was hired for a job to take cargo on a boat to new Orleans.  When he was 22 years old he left home and went to New Salem, Illinois.  Since he had honestly dealt with people, people gave him the nickname "honest Abe". Abraham Lincoln became a lawyer, there were no law schools then so Abraham studied law books on his own.  In 1837 Abraham moved.  Abraham Lincoln was assassinated (shot) by the  actor John Wilkes Booth, in the Ford's theater. He was the first President to ever be assassinated  when he was shot he was rushed to a house of a doctor near the theater  shortly after that he died on April 15, 1865
