The Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in 1922. It was built in honor of Abraham Lincoln. It is one of the most breathtaking sites in Washington.
The statue of Abraham Lincoln is 19 feet. On the south wall is the Gettsburg Address, in which Lincoln asked people to carry on the fighting in the Civil War.
It has 37 marble columns that stand for the 37 states of when Abraham Lincoln was the president of the United States. Inside of the building is a statue of Abraham Lincoln.
In 1963 more than 200,000 people came to the Lincoln Memorial to listen to Martin Luther King, Jr. tell about his speech called, "I Have a Dream."
The Lincoln Memorial attracts the most people in Washington. The Lincoln Memorial is a symbol of freedom.
