ILLEGAL: MARIJUANA

 

          Marijuana is Americas most widely used illegal drugs. It is easier for   teen-agers to get hold of marijuana then they can get a hold of alcohol. Nearly 40% of people over the age of twelve have tried pot at least once in their life. Marijuana can be rolled up like a cigarette or marijuana can be eaten. Over 11 million people smoked pot last month.

 

EFFECTS OF MARIJUANA

 

The effects of marijuana have clear signs and indicators. The illegal drug can stunt emotion, physical, and mental development adolescents. The active ingredient of marijuana is THC, which goes through the lungs and into the brain. This triggers the brains reward system, giving the user a euphoric pleasure feeling. At the same time THC hampers with the addict’s thoughts, concentration, and the perception of time. The effects can be felt right away, and they last up to four hours. People become paranoid and/or anxious on pot. These are a couple of reactions of marijuana:

·        Bloodshot eyes

·        Faster heartbeat

·        Sensations more intense

·        Hunger

·        Fear

·        Dry mouth

·        Loss of control and memory and coordination

·        Addiction

·        Reaction time slowed

 

Marijuana information tells us the chronic use of marijuana leads to phlegm filled coughs, chest pains, and respiratory problems. When people smoke pot often, it leads to low-test scores, they miss work a lot, and users have much more accidents. Soon the addict will experience isolation, depression, and an increase in anxiety. Also, the user will feel uncomfortable feelings and fear. A major danger of marijuana is the physical dependence of the user, and the tolerance to the drug. Irritability, and sleeping difficulties are some effects of marijuana. Lung and heart cancer are another side effect of this horrible drug. Hallucinations and delusions, and the loss of self-identification are also side effects. Breathing difficulties and the deteriorating physical abilities appear. Cancers such as lung cancer will also appear. Over 11 million people in America smoked pot last month. Marijuana is SO dangerous; its no wonder smoking marijuana is illegal!
