Alcohol is VERY dangerous and popular.
Its effects are numerous and deadly. Legal troubles and the cirrhosis of the liver
are only two of the effects. Over time the cirrhosis can lead to liver failure.
There are two categories: short and long term. Some times the effects clear up… other times the effects NEVER clear up. The first aspect to go is the concentration of the alcoholic. That is the first sign. Blackouts are the second sign. Blackouts put the addict into a dreamless state, but to anyone else the alcoholic looks awake and alert. Other times the alcoholic will do things that he/she does not remember. Just like heroin, alcoholism is poison to the body. Effects also happen outside the body, not just inside. Two outside problems are legal and relationship troubles. People who are addicted usually have trouble managing their lives. This effect is devastating. Most alcoholics find themselves homeless or in jail. Users sometime drive drunk and kill someone. There IS a saying about this: “Never Drink and Drive.

Just
like heroin, the Spencer Recovery Center also provides treatment on alcohol.
There are different aspects and stages and types of treatment. Examples are
long term, short term, inpatient, and outpatient.
The
first stage of treatment is the detox, which is necessary. The detox may be
difficult and uncomfortable for the patient. Some times the detox is even
fatal! Usually the body reacts violently when the alcohol is taken out of the
system. The reaction may be fatal, too. Most of the time the body convulses and
the patient feel nauseous. It is best to do the detox with treatment facility.
There are three different aspects. The first
aspect is the medical aspect- a doctor (for example) will assist our patient to
ensure safety.
The
second aspect of treatment is the physical aspect- a nutritionist will make a
meal plan to help the body. If the body is well fed then the detox usually goes
more smoothly.
The third aspects the
emotional aspect- counselors help the addict with the area of emotions. Most of
the time the user will become extremely emotional. Our staff can help the
abuser move through emotions. This allows the staff to begin the healing
process.
The SECOND STAGE of the treatment is the
recovery. The patient needs to work him/her-self emotionally. When the
emotional problem is gone there’s a better chance in staying sober, BUT even
though the addict is sober the disease does NOT go away.
The
THIRD STAGE of the alcohol treatment is a meeting with addicts is the patient’s
hometown. This makes up a support group. This is the best defense, because then
the now sober addict has somewhere to go to when the treatment is over.
The
treatment WORKS- it’s the first line of defense against alcoholism. IF IT IS TOO LATE THE TREATMENT WILL NOT BE
POSSIBLE. So call a treatment center and save your loved ones life.

The withdrawal
occurs when the drug is not in the body’s system. Every addict who wants to be
sober has to undergo the withdrawal. Naturally, the withdrawal is uncomfortable.
Since the abuser had relied on alcohol, the toxic became part of the body’s
chemistry. This is a MAJOR PROBLEM, because the withdrawal can throw the chemical make-up
off track. The alcohol becomes the ruler of emotions. It can cause emotional
pain. Alcoholism takes a heavy toll on the addict’s body.
