Small Pox, BIG Consequences
Are you wondering
if smallpox has any relationship with chicken pox? Many people
think that chicken pox is just like smallpox, but smallpox is much more
serious. Its basis is also from the saliva or mucus of an infected person. If inhaled
or consumed, you might get infected with the virus.
Symptoms
If you have the
virus, symptoms may start after a week or two. Overnight, your body starts to
sweat like crazy. You have a high fever and your bones are aching. In the
morning, you feel tired and groggy and can’t stand up without feeling the pain.
These are the symptoms of smallpox, an infectious disease caused by the virus Variola major. Since a virus
causes smallpox, your body has to fight it without medicine. This means that a
full recovery could take up to 17 days. Following the
fever and the pain, a rash will start to develop. It will cover the whole body.
Also, pus-filled blisters will form. They will be very ginger and will hurt at
the slightest contact.
Even
though these symptoms might sound bizarre, don’t worry. Smallpox is a rare
disease and there is a small chance of being infected with it. This doesn’t
mean that you can stop washing your hands or staying clean, but it does mean
that it is not a big deal. Now that you are aware of the disease smallpox, you
will be more prepared than you would’ve been before!
