“Cholera” a Doctor!

Cholera

WHAT it is and WHERE it’s found

The disease cholera is a harsh one. A virus called Vibrio cholerae causes this tough-to-handle disease. The virus, when swallowed, infects the small intestine. It then makes the body fluids zip along. Because of this sudden change of movement, the infected person will immediately have diarrhea and dehydration.

Symptoms

This will also cause extreme vomiting and intestinal problems. Many people in the U.S. shouldn’t be afraid of cholera, unless they have recently traveled to a place such as Africa. Africa is a good example of an area where cholera may be found because the virus lives in places that have terrible sanitation facilities.

PreVeNTioNS
Like always, a way to prevent this disease is to wash your hands. Of course, you may also want to watch were your play areas are. Sometimes, if you need a drink, the water will be contaminated. If Vibrio cholerae just so happens to be in the mix, cholera is in your near future. If you’re afraid to drink water now, don’t worry. There is a miniscule chance that the water you’re drinking is impure. Now that you know almost everything you need to know about cholera, go out and live life to the fullest!
