Types of Money

 

Coins

All American coins are small circles made out of a type of metal.  They all have a picture of someone engraved on the front.  Most of the people engraved on the front are presidents.

                Penny: Copper colored with a small picture of Abraham Lincoln engraved in the front.  It’s worth $0.01.

 

                Nickel:  It is a silver color with a small picture of Thomas Jefferson on the front.   It’s worth $0.05.

 

                Dime:  It’s the smallest of American coins and is silver also.  It has a picture of John Adams engraved on the front.  It’s worth $0.10.

 

                Quarter:  It’s also a silver color with a picture of George Washington engraved on the front.  It’s worth $0.25.

 

                Half-Dollar Coin:  It’s silver with a picture of a John F. Kennedy engraved on the front of it.  It’s also the largest American coin.  It’s worth $0.50.

 

                One-Dollar Coin:  It’s also silver and has a picture of a Susan B. Anthony.  It’s worth $1.00.


 

Dollar Bill

All American dollar bills are average size rectangular pieces of paper.  Most are worth more than coins.  They also have pictures of people on the front of them; most of the people are presidents.  All of the dollar bills are the same color.

               

One-Dollar Bill:  Worth one hundred pennies, it has a picture of George Washington on the front.  It is worth the least of all dollar bills. 

They have little strands of red, white, and blue mixed in.  It’s worth $1.00.

 

Two-Dollar Bill:  The two-dollar bill is the most rare of all American bills.  A picture of John Adams is on the two-dollar bill.  It’s worth  $2.00.

 

Five-Dollar Bill:  On this bill is a picture of president Abraham Lincoln.  It’s worth $5.00.

 

Ten-Dollar Bill:  A picture of Alexander Hamilton is on the ten-dollar bill.  

 

Twenty-Dollar Bill:  A picture of Andrew Jackson is on the twenty-dollar bill.

 

Fifty-Dollar Bill:  A picture of Alexander Grant is on the fifty- dollar bill.

 

One Hundred-Dollar Bill:  A picture of Ben Franklin is on the hundred-dollar bill.

 

Five Hundred-Dollar Bill:  A picture of William McKinley is on the five hundred-dollar bills.

 

One Thousand-Dollar Bill:  A picture of Grover Cleveland is on the thousand-dollar bill.

 

Five Thousand-Dollar Bill:  A picture of James Madison is on this bill.

 

Ten Thousand:  The president on the front of this bill Samuel Chase.

 

One Hundred Thousand-Dollar Bill: A picture of Woodrow Wilson is on this bill.
