Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in the big woods in Wisconsin in 1867, on February 7th.   Her Ma’s name was Caroline and her Pa's name was Charles.   Laura also had an older sister named Mary.  About 3 years after Laura was born she had another sister named Caroline, but they called her Carrie.   About 7 years after Caroline was born, her little sister was born her name was Grace.                                                   Laura had a very exciting life, she told her stories to many people.  Laura had done and made many things in her young life in the 1800’s.  She helped her parents grow vegetables, salt their own meat and bake their food. They also made butter. When Laura’s daughter was helping her in the kitchen a small fire started and it burned down Laura’s house, after that Laura’s second child died.   A little while after Laura’s house burnt down Laura became a teacher.  Laura always wanted to become a teacher.  Laura did not stay a teacher for a long time though.  Laura loved her job as a teacher even though she quit.

    When Laura stated writing books; the people who read them loved her books so much that they wanted her to write more books.  She did as the people asked and wrote more and more books. Laura’s books were very famous.  Laura did not have any Newbery Awards on any of her books.  Laura’s stopped writing her books when Almanzo died, but in secret she wrote one more book for Almanzo. 

    Laura did not feel like making any more books.  Laura was a very, very famous person when she died.  Laura died 3 days after her birthday.  Laura was 90 years old when she died.  Many people loved her books.
A little while after Laura died Rose found the book that she was writing that she hide in her writing desk. Rose finished the book and edited it to be more attractive to kids.  Rose also wrote books.  She also wrote a couple books about stories that her mom told her. 

    Even though there are no more stories made by her, there are more and more different kinds of ways that people remember her stories.  One of the ways we remember her is by her T.V and her movies.  Many people want to know about her and this website can help you learn about her.
