Education

Did you know that most people in the Middle Ages didn't know how to read or write? Girls worked at home or in the lord's garden. Boys would either become pages when they were 7, become an apprentice to learn a trade, or go to the church to learn to become a clergyman. Some of the boys learned how to be a blacksmith, a potter, a shoemaker, a stone mason, or a baker if they were very lucky. Sometimes they would just be farmers.

Most peasants worked all day.
