Dental Care
Did you know that people didn't use tooth brushes in the Middle Ages? Mostly they would rub their teeth with a linen cloth to clean them. Sometimes they chewed twigs to clean them.
Early dentists thought that cavities were caused by a worm in the tooth. Sometimes they told people to put a piece of onion in the ear that was on the opposite side of the cavity to drive the worm out.
Early dentists filled cavities with ground bone, but later used gold. Dentists were very expensive and only the wealthy people could afford to go to them.
