Coat of Arms In medieval times many family had coat of arms. When King Arthur fought he carried a shield and a sword. Knights carried a shield for protection. As time went by, the shields were decorate with emblems called "coat of arms". Each knight had his own coat of arms. This helped identify each other. Coat of Arms were created using colors - red, blue, green, and purple.Gold and silver were also used.
