Dolphins

If you look at a dolphin and a whale you think that they are different but actually they are very much alike. A dolphin is in the whale family and currently there are 25 different dolphin species including 5 freshwater dolphin. Six dolphins are often called whales and just when you think you have it straight there is also a fish called a dolphin.

Saltwater Dolphins live all over the world in the oceans. While our freshwater friends only live in the rivers of Asia and South America. Even though many people have joined in saving these animals, we need to be careful and not pollute their habitats.  Not only must we treat these animals with respect but also treat their environments well too!

Dolphins have been known to push people and objects to shore. One interesting fact is that during World War II some American soldiers were stuck in a raft and a family of dolphins came by and pushed them to land. I hope that you learned more about these wonderful creatures!
