Get your heart beating with some games we have put together. As you read on you might notice some of the answers to our questions in our questions on the games. Explore Mexico from the Rio Grande to Yucatan peninsula.  In Mexican, food is la comida. Tonga una comida marvillosa! (Have a nice meal!) In the picture below , there are some tamales and what they are made from. Tamales are a kind of steamed corn dumpling with meat and corn husks. Mole Pablano is one of Mexico's famous dishes.

There is a huge variety of food grown in Mexico.  The main crop of the country is corn. Tortillas have corn in them so they are eaten with every meal.  Even though beans aren’t made of corn, they are still eaten at every meal.

Fiestas are parties in Mexico.  What would a fiesta be like? There is normally a piñata filled with candy and treats. The piñata is a paper mache figure filled treats  that children hit with a stick and when it breaks they scramble for the goodies. Special Fiestas that are for Christmas start on December 16th and end on December 24th.  The nine days represent the nine inns that Joseph and Mary went to in search for lodging.  At this special event, there are singers singing traditional songs and tunes. These fiestas sound very eventful and full of fun!

There are some similar and some different traditions between the United States and Mexico. In the United States families have parties in honor of holidays and special events, like birthdays. Also corn is a major crop in both countries.  However, one major difference in parts of Mexico the men stay home, cook and watch the children while the women work.

I found Mexico to be a very interesting place to study and to learn about.  It has difference and similarities to the United States.  I hope you enjoyed your virtual trip to Mexico!
