Twin Towers

 

On September 11, 2001 a group of hijackers from the Middle East hijacked four American Airlines planes. Two of the hijacked planes crashed into the New York Trade Center.


American Airlines flight 11 was bound for Los Angeles. There were 92 people aboard. Flight 11 was hijacked and at about 8:45 the plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

American Airlines flight 175 hit the South Tower less than twenty minutes after the first attack.

After the attacks, the White House was evacuated and they stopped all non-military airlines in the nation. President Bush said, "Today, our nation saw evil." He said, "These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they failed; our country is strong."

On September 11, 2001, about 3,000 people died and the Twin Towers were destroyed.
