The Parthenon
| The Parthenon is the temple of Athena [commonly mistaken for the temple of Athena Nike] Parthenos. The Parthenon was built in the 5th century BC,even though it has endured great damage over the centuries, it is still a great relic of ancient Greek architecture. The Parthenon was designed by Ictinus and Callcrates. The temple was built in the Doric order and almost all of it was Pentelic marble. It has eight columns on each of the narrow sides and seventeen on each of the long sides. |
