Other fantastic buildings in China are gongs (palaces). One of the gongs in China is an emperor’s palace located in the Forbidden City serving both Ming and Qing emperors that lived in the gong from 1368 to 1911.This gong covers an area of seven hundred twenty thousand square meters that include many halls, towers, and pavilions. This gong is one of the greatest gongs in the world.
Did you know that the number nine has something to do with Chinese architecture? It does.Ancient Chinese people thought odd numbers meant male and even number meant female.Since nine is the largest odd single digit it meant ultimate male and was therefore typical of supreme sovereignty of the emperor.A noticeable example is the studs on the gong gates that are usually arranged in nine rows with nine studs in each row totaling eighty-one studs.
