One of the most beautiful buildings in China is the Great Wall of China.This is how the construction of the Great Wall of China happened.During the time of 474 BC- 221 BC in China many people had suffered from the battles with the nomadic Mongolians which were thought to be barbarians.The first emperor in the Qin dynasty (221 BC- 206 BC) Shi Huangdi thought of the Great Wall of China.Huangdi ordered his troops to get people to build the Great Wall of China.These people were musicians, teachers, writers, artists, and humble peasants, even troublemakers.In total there were one million people.The Great Wall of China is made out of bricks, rocks, mud, and stone.It is 5,000 kilometers long, 15 feet to 30 feet in depth, and 25 feet tall.During the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1644) the Great Wall was enlarged by 4,000 miles.Every 300 feet the workers built a watchtower to spy on and guard against the Mongolians.After the last dynasty, the Qing dynasty (AD 1644- 1911) the Chinese abandoned the original use of the Great Wall of China.The Great Wall of China is so large it is visible from the earth’s orbit but is not visible from the moon.Back
