Scientists study glaciers to learn how the affect the climate of the earth, how much water is held in glaciers, and how glaciers affect the land. Space scientists measure the size of glaciers from outer space. Other scientists go to the glaciers in the Arctic, Antarctic, and to glaciers in the mountain to study them. They check for the depth of the ice and how it affects the land.
This scientist gets a drink from the cold water melted from this continental glacier.
Measurements of the ice is surveyed every year to determine if the glacier has changed in height.
Large ships can break through the ice near the continents.
