Satellites show scientists how an eruption cloud moves. It also shows how much of the earth will be affected by the material erupted from a volcano.
   
Images taken from outer space by satellites can see how eruption clouds are moving in the atmosphere. Clouds of volcanic gases and ash can be monitored to see how far it spreads.
